Summer Academies

Orford Musique 2022 (Orford, Quebec) I attended in-person this year (July 30-August 6), and had some very enjoyable and inspiring lessons with Sara Davis Buechner. I also got to hike La Boucle des trois étangs, a beautiful trail in the Parc National du Mont-Orford adjacent to Orford Musique.

Verbier Festival 2021 (Switzerland) I had a wonderful time at this music festival in the beautiful town of Verbier in the Swiss Alps. Highlights of the 3-week long festival included piano lessons with Joaquín Achúcarro, Klaus Hellwig, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, and Sir András Schiff. I was honoured to receive the festival’s Tabor Prize for Piano. Click here to see other participating students;

Orford Musique 2021 (Orford, Quebec) Online studies with Anton Nel, Jean Saulnier, and Evelyne Brancart were terrific. I am hoping to attend in-person next summer!

Verbier Festival 2020 (Switzerland) I was accepted into Verbier 2020 to study with piano mentors Richard Goode, Sergei Babayan, Stephan Kovacevich, and András Schiff. The academy had to be canceled this summer, but the good news is that acceptances will be rolled over to the summer of 2021!

Art of the Piano 2020 (Cincinnati) This is a piano institute that is presented by Awadagin Pratt and many other fine faculty teachers. I was one of several students accepted into the academy this year: Young Artists 2020 . The face to face part of the academy has been canceled this year; however, exciting news, the institute is presenting an on-line concert series featuring live concerts by faculty and student participants. The series is called OnLive and runs June 23 through July 26th. Faculty concerts feature pianists including Garrick Ohlsson, Alexander Korsantia, Victor Rosenbaum, Simone Dinnerstein, Enrico Elisi, Boris Slutsky, Marina Lomazov, John Perry, Jim Giles, William Nabore, Vladimir  Feltsman, Jeffrey Kahane, and Olga Kern. Student concerts happen Fridays at 8pm EST. I’ll post details for the student concerts here once I have them.

Domaine Forget 2020 (Charlevoix, Quebec) I was accepted for online studies with Alessio Bax and Ilya Poletaev. (Canceled due to covid-19.)

Orford Musique 2020 (Orford, Quebec) This is summer-long academy in the beautiful Mont Orford National Park has been called “a Jewel in the Crown of Canadian Culture” and features many concerts for the general public. Unfortunately the face-to-face version of the academy had to be canceled this summer. However I am still participating in the online version and looking forward to studying with Sara Davis Buechner and Jimmy Brière. (August 2-15 and July 26-August 1)
